The Y3 pupils visited the Museum in Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter. The museum used to be the actual factory and had all the equipment left as it used to be. The pupils learnt about the journey of gold from being found in the ground to being made into jewellery. Unfortunately the gold bars, in the factory, were replaced with fake replicas!!!
As part of their Ancient Greek topic, the Year Three’s were asked to make a Greek artefact and bring it into school. Wow! What a great response. We have had so many artefacts, see the pictures below. Well done to all the children who worked hard at home to make these and well done to the parents for helping their children.
We had a very exciting day living like the Ancient Greeks. We learnt how the Greeks lived, how they liked to fight wars and what their rules and laws were. Pupils came in dressed up as the Greeks and were totally immersed in the topic. We even had a visit from a Greek soldier and we especially enjoyed the war we took part in!!!!
All the Year 3 classes performed a class assembly on the story of Haj and Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Parents were invited to watch the wonderful performances by the pupils. They were very confident in both delivery of the lines and acting out their parts. They also performed a nasheed which they sang beautifully. Well done Year 3!
Year 3 were able to make, bake and decorate fairy cakes as part of their ‘scrumdiddlyumptious’ topic. They had to measure the correct amounts of butter, flour, sugar and eggs to make the mixture before putting them in the muffin maker to bake. They were then able to decorate them with icing, hundreds and thousands and chocolate shapes and finally able to enjoy their yummy taste.
As part of their Healthy Eating topic Year 3 chose either to make a fruit salad or sandwiches. They had a variety of fruits, breads and sandwich fillers and had to decide which would make a healthy snack as well as being tasty and look appetising. Ustada Farzana decided that Ustada Shamina would have taste the dishes produced and judge which was the winner and why.
